Chinese Buffet Dinner at Iconic Hotel Penang


The festival joy of Chinese New Year is just around the corner and the chefs at Iconic Hotel Penang has stormed up the kitchen with a myriad of beautiful flavours to celebrate this festive celebration. Be it a reunion or gathering with family, friends or colleagues, the food you will find on the buffet spread will just please the palate. Just like how mine was pampered away with the wonderful and exciting taste.


Located on the Mezzanine floor, Mezza9 welcomes diners to a clean, elegant and contemporary ambiance. Making dining pleasure. 

Alright so let's see what the chefs has prepared.

Starting off with some fresh greens. All you gotta do is pick your greens, your dressing and condiments of you choice.

Make your own salad
Chicken Pea, Carrot, Cherry Tomato, Capsicum, Sweet Pea, Cucumber, Mushroom, Corn
Mix leaves (Lolorosso, Frissee, Oak Leaf, Butterhead)

Dressing & Condiments
Thousand Island, Lemon Herb Vinaigrette, Mango Citrus Dressing, Caesar Dressing, Sesame Soy Dressing
Turkey Strips, Grated Parmesan, Olives, Crouton, Pumpkin Seed, Sunflower Seeds, Toasted Walnut



Not missing out on some Asian salad variations such as Marinated Jelly Fish, Deep Fried Chai Gor and Baby Octopus.




You will find two hearty soup choices to indulge away. Enjoy the Braised Seafood Soup or the Kiam Chai Ark soup. Both offering its different delicious style.




Now time to explore the tempting main dishes that is hard to resist. Everything looked so good.


Fried Prawn with Curry Leaf Nestum
Nothing could go wrong with fried prawns and Nestum. The fragrant aroma of the Nestum is just so appealing.


Stir-Fried Lotus Root, Carrot with Gingko Nut


Chicken Thigh with Lemon Sauce
Now this is something I loved ever since I was lil. It's like one dish that many people commonly love. Crispy chicken covered a nice tangy lemon sauce. A bite into it, makes you wanting more.


Crispy Noodle with Seafood Egg Sauce


Roasted Lamb with Mint Jelly Brown Sauce
The Lamb was nicely seasoned offering a nice bite together with the mint jelly brown sauce.


Lobster Thermidor
Now this one, was the bomb. The creaminess and flavour of the combination of lobster meat and other ingredients was just so good. One down, two down, three down, and many many more haha.. How can you resist such delicacy :p


Spaghetti Carbonara
Grab your spaghetti, pour the carbonara sauce over it, loads of it and sprinkle some cheese over and it's ready to be enjoyed.


Steamed Fish Teo Chew Style
Steamed fish is definitely one dish that you can't miss. Unlike the norms that you will only find it served during course meals, it was pretty interesting to find this style being served in a buffet line. But of course the fish was great. 


Over at the Roasted Corner, you will find our local favourite item that is the Roasted Chicken, Roast Duck & Chicken Char Siew Served with Chicken Rice and Condiments. Nice tender roasted chicken and together with the fragrant rice was just lovely. 



Some steamed dim sum items were also served as well.


Asian Tapas like the Pandan Chicken, Chicken Roll and others were also made available for you to enjoy.



Apart from that, the noodle station was simply amazing. Lots of choices and they had 3 types of soup base for you to choose from; Prawn Mee Soup, Chicken Clear Soup Tom Yam Soup. Blached the items of you choice, top with the ingredients that you like and finally the soup of your choice. Voila, a bowl of nice noodle is ready.






Otak-otak


It's always a happy sight for seafood lover to spot the Seafood on Ice section. These fresh catch from the sea are always a star attraction. Savour the freshness of prawns, mussels, spanner crab, slipper lobster, and flower crab.






There's also the plain congee with confiments. I was attacking the braised peanuts non-stop though shhhhh ...hahaha


And finally the part where I love the most, desserts. The arrangement and presentation of the desserts was just so appealing and irresistible. The desserts were no way you were gonna say no thanks. 

Indulge into the sweet treats such as Chocolate Banana Cake, Mango Mousse Cake, Black Forest Cake, Blueberry Cake, Meringue Tart, Cream Puff, Fruit Flan, Charrus, Assorted Pudding and Jelly, Local Kuih, Bread and Butter Pudding, Lychee Kang, Chinese Pancake. 

Everything looked so pretty don't they :)

The magnificent chocolate fountain awaits one with the flowing of chocolatey goodness.


Glutinous Rice Ball with Red Bean Soup.
The glutinous rice ball had a nice texture. It wasn't hard and the red bean soup was just perfect. Complimenting well as a dish.



It's always nice to find beverages being served on the buffet line too. 


The excellent choices of food is ideal especially is this mood of celebration. As the promotion is only for a limited time only, so make your booking and be prepared to enjoy the best Iconic has to offer this for round of promotion.
