Tomahawk Steak – The Ultimate Steak at The Barn, Gurney Plaza


This is my first trip to The BAR°N located in Gurney Plaza. If you happened to walk by the al fresco area, the outlet wouldn't be a miss as you walk by. I didn't know what to expect but by end of the day, I was indeed satisfied and the promotion item for this month and next, is petty neat!  Keep reading to find out more.

This outlet is the second outlet, the first outlet is at 1 Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur and the most recent outlet just recently opened in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur back in early September. 





The BAR°N sets in a cozy and relaxed ambiance, making it a perfect set for dining with various wines on display as well. 












Alright, so my fork and knife is ready. Let's dig in. Oh but wait! Let's see what The BAR°N has in store before we can dig in :)

Candy Bacon Platter RM29
Thin slices of crispy goodness. With a tinge of sweetness that covers every bite you take.


Oven-baked Portobello Mushroom with bacon, tomato and cheese RM29
Simply love the mixture of taste from the portobello mushroom together with the tomato and cheese especially. Gives such a nice juicy bite.  



Crispy Pork Belly RM29
If roasted pork belly is your thing, then this dish calls for you :) Juicy tender pieces, dipped into the garlic chili sauce for a nice spicy, aromatic bite.





Bacon Wrapped Scallop RM37
This wrapping combination could hardly go wrong, it taste as good as it looks. It's like having the best of both worlds in one go :)






Tapas Combo Platter RM68
Crispy pork belly, chicken wings, luncheon fries, pork satay, potato wedges and deep fried button mushrooms .

It's like a perfect joy platter to be shared around. With different types of items available, it just satisfies your taste buds. 






Cheese Platter RM45
With 2 types of cheese, various dried fruits and nuts, pieces of celery stalks and crackers. A slice of cheese on the cracker, with nut and fruit, yum yum yum. Could I also have more of these please :)







Cold Cuts RM55
Selection of 4 different meat cuts, slices of french loaf and olives.





Oven-Roasted Baby Back Pork Ribs RM59
Specially marinated and grilled to perfection with special homemade bbq sauce. Served with potatoes and vegetables.
It was tender and full of flavour that 




All American Wagyu Beef Burger RM39 
Wagyu patty, cheese, bacon, green salad, tomato, and fries.





Pasta Aglio Olio with Crispy Pork Belly RM33 





Pasta Carbonara with Smoked Duck RM35 
I'm always a big fan of carbonara and though many places serves it, but not many makes the cut. The carbonara served back here was good. Love the richness, creaminess and the taste it had. I could have more of this. ermm maybe more than 2 servings haha..





Alright! Beef lovers, now this is your section. 

Chicago Bone-In Ribeye Steak RM118 



And now to the main highlight which is the Tomahawk Steak. A Limited-Time Offer promotion at The BAR°N outlets @1Mont Kiara, @Gurney Plaza and @Pavilion KL from 1 October till 30 November 2016. Each Tomahawk weighs heavily between 850g and 1000g – dependent on the cut. The meat is imported from Australia.

The name ‘tomahawk’ derives from the native Algonquian words ‘tamahak’ or ‘tamahakan’ which means cutting instrument. Tomahawk steaks utilize cuts from the fore-rib of cows, keeping the entire length of bone inatct to produce its signature hatchet shape. A large quantity of inter-muscular fat marbles the premium cut, melting to give it a silky texture and a symphony of flavors. An infusion of juices from the bone into the meat elevates the dept of flavors, whilst maintaining a juicy and tender interior. 

Guests ordering The Tomahawk are offered the option of two specially paired wine at 20% discount. The wines are Chateau Ste Michelle Canoe Ridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (US) and Leconfield Coonawara Cabernet Sauvignon (Aust) at RM277++ and 201++ (before discount) respectively.





It was HUGE! Like really HUGE! Makes me think like living in the Flintstones era haha. 
Love the flavour of the beef and how juicy and tender it was.















Nothing like to wind down the meal with some delicious and appetizing desserts.

Cream Brulee RM25





Affogato RM21 
A shot of espresso poured over a scoop of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream then served with Sambuca.

The affogato served back here is pretty unique and special. Unlike the norms that you see elsewhere. The Sambuca is flamed and poured into the affogato.





It looked like the waiter was doing some magic trick with the drink :)





Sixty Drops Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand) RM79.9 & Dancing Flame Malbec (Chile) RM89.9. 





The The BAR°N at Gurney Plaza also offers a range of special promotions and events to enhance a customer’s drinking and dining experience. At present, customers may enjoy drinks at special prices during the bar & restaurant’s daily Happy Hour, while busy lunch-goers can already select from a long list of Executive Set Lunch options every day from 12 – 3pm (including public holidays and weekends). What’s more, as a family-friendly place, children below 12 years of age will receive a complimentary kid’s meal with every main ordered.
