Chinese New Year Yee Sang Banquet at Vistana Hotel Penang


It is good to be back to Vistana Hotel Penang. This is my second trip here and this time around is to share with you on their on-going Chinese New Year Yee Sang Banquet which is all set to welcome the Chinese New Year. Vistana has been doing this banquet for a couple of years now and I was such a privilege that I had the opportunity to savour into their delicious feast.



The highlight of this banquet is Hong Kong Master Chef Ng Wing Lam, an accomplished Master who has over 40 years of experience in Hong Kong and in Asia. Master Chef Ng leads the Vistana Chefs in developing an innovative and outstanding Chinese Banquet Cuisine for you to enjoy at Vistana Hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan and Penang.

I had to chance to try their 8 course meal. Which started off with the Salmon Yee Sang. One of the unique item to be found in this yee sang was actually the thin cut strips of yam. 


Next up was the Braised Pumpkin Soup with Assorted Seafood. Wasn't much a big fan of pumpkin soup, but I love how the chefs flavoured the soup with. Such nice rich flavours from the ingredients that they used to boil it with. 


Steamed Red Lion Fish with Superior Soya Sauce. Love the freshness of the fish and the taste of the soya sauce, simply perfect.


Home-Style Whole Chicken with Mushroom. That is one dish that is packed with tender juicy chicken and heaps of mushrooms and vege.


Deep-fried Crispy Prawn with Yellow Beans and Mayo. I personally love this dish as well. Succulent prawns deep fried drizzled with mayo. Oh I could have this all to myself.


Braised Garden Vegetables with Asssorted Mushroom. A very simple dish that came with a variety of mushrooms with nicely flavoured sauce.


Wok-fried Rice with Anchovies and Chicken. The small anchovies does enhance the flavours of the fried rice. Giving it a nice fragrant bite to it.


Last but not least, Ginger Tea with Red Dates and Black Sesame Ball. Tea infused with Ginger n Red Dates gives such nice aroma and taste. Loved the black sesame filling.



This 8 course dishes were selected specially and it cost RM 688++. The dining will be held either in the grandball room or other function rooms depending on the table availability.
