Wonderful Indonesia Buffet Lunch at Swez Brasserie, Eastin Hotel Penang.


For the month of August 2015, Eastin Hotel Penang is proud to present the latest promotion which is the Wonderful Indonesia Buffet Lunch. Be prepared to indulge the wonderful mouth-watering cuisines from all over Indonesia.  Dishes offered are made with traditional spices, herbs as well as other seasoning that will leave you craving for more.


For start, I tried the Gado-gado which I wondered if it was gonna be good or the other way around. I must say the sauce was really really good. Double thumbs up. The sauce was an important thing in the whole dish and they did a very good job with the sauce. The Gado-gado consisted of eggs, shredded cucumbers, carrots, long beans, tau kwa (bean curd), potatoes and jicama or what is known as bangkuang. Served with the peanut sauce and it opens up your appetite. 


Emping is a cracker which is unlike the usual crackers you find. It has this tinge of bitterness which u wouldn't find in other cracker. But it certainly not the burnt bitterness haha..



As for soup, there was the Sop Buntut or known as the Sup Ekor.



And among the main dishes were the Sayur Lontong dengan Sambal Ikan Bilis. Tumeric with the creaminess of the coconut milk gives this dish such a pleasant nice taste.

While the Beef Rendang Jawa which had nice spice flavour in the rendang while the existence of Kaffir Lime leaves give the rendang an aromatic flavour. 




There was also the Pecel Lele which is the fried catfish.




The all time favourite, Satay Ayam that was served with such nice aromatic peanut sauce and having onions, cucumber and nasi impit is a must. Could have gone for more sticks if my stomach could fill in haha..



One of my favourite of the night was this, the Perkadel. Which is where meat is wrapped by mashed potatoes. It was one of the best I have ever had. The filling was nicely flavoured. Probably the mashed potato was mashed too fine but it was still good overall. 





The Nasi Goreng Ikan is something for different for change. 




It is time for desserts! This was my first trying Es Teler. Initially when I saw it I though it was the Thailand's Mango with Glutinous Rice, but then upon seeing it clearly it wasn't. Es Teler is a fruit cocktail in Indonesia. It had mangoes, avocado served with coconut milk and sweetened condensed milk.  



The every famous Indonesia Layer Cake


Pisang Goreng dengan Coklat dan Keju is something quite interesting. Chocolate and banana is rather common but with cheese, that is something really unique.
