Durian Cheese Chicken Burger at Sigi's Bar & Grill at Golden Sands Resort, Penang.


If you love burgers, then Sigi’s Bar and Grill at Golden Sands Resort, Penang is the place to be as from now til the end of August 2015, they are presenting their Burger Mania which you wouldn't want to miss.

Since Penang is  now having the Durian season. Durians are everywhere, like practically every corner of Penang and the main highlight at Sigi's Bar & Grill would definitely be the Durian Cheese Chicken Burger. Yes! you read that right. Durian burger haha. Surprise Surprise.

Durian burger isn't just durian flesh slab between burger buns but it's done in this manner where fresh durians are cooked to a puree paste form and is then filled in the middle of the patty followed by cheese is added in order to have a balanced cheese melt that gives just the right tinge of durian and cheese in the burger. The durian flavour doesn't overpower the whole burger. Take a bite and you will have flavours of the burger and the Durian oozing out from your burger. People may have their eyebrows raising, thinking 'durian and meat, wouldn't that be weird?'. But once you dig into it, you will realize that it has quite a unique interesting yet delicious overall taste.  The Durian Cheese Chicken Burger is at RM45nett.


If the King of Fruits, Durian isn't your thing, then don't worry as they serve other burgers as well. You could opt for the Charcoal Bread Beef Burger. Toasted charcoal buns served with condiments of fresh lettuce, tomato slices and a side of tasty crunchy nacho chips. The Charcoal Bread Beef Burger is priced at RM50nett. 


There are other variants of burgers as well with  international flavour which includes Lamb Kofta Classic, Egg and Cheese, Charcoal Burger, Chicken Cajun Delight and Big Wave Fish Burger.  

The Lamb Kofta Classic comes with garnishing of onion dices, diced tomato and Middle Eastern crushed foul medammas bean with a sesame seed bun and served with French fries and a lemon wedge.   The Egg and Cheese burger consists of a fried egg, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and French fries. The dark and handsome charcoal bread burger is a toasted charcoal bun with beef patty, French cornichon, sliced cheese, tomato slices, crisp lettuce, garlic aioli, smoked barbecue sauce, tomato ketchup and is served with a side of nacho chips. The Chicken Cajun Delight is a grilled chicken breast seasoned with Cajun spices, lettuce, tomato slices, tomato sauce, garlic aioli, cheese and French fries. For seafood lovers, there is the Big Wave Fish Burger with a fish fillet in a crispy fried batter, julienne of lettuce, tomato slices, coleslaw and tartar sauce which is served wide a side of French Fries and a lemon wedge. 

If you are there, you may also want to try their SBG Caesar Salad. Crispy romaine lettuce tossed with caesar dressing, served with beef rashers, garlic scented croutons, parmesan cheese and smoked salmon . All this for only RM44 nett.

The refreshing Ginger and Orange Mojito mocktail was awesome. Mint springs, lime wedges, cane sugar, orange slice and ginger beer really gives that refreshing feeling drinking it. Have yours at RM22 nett.










I must say it was one creative move by the chef who used Durian in the burger. Something  that sounds a little odd but the results was unexpectedly good. So Durian lovers don't miss out on this experience and burger lovers do try out the wonderful burgers here.
